The Story Behind Canvas Rejects

  • Damien Mohammed

Hi — I'm Damien Joseph, and Canvas Rejects is mine. Born from a lifelong obsession with the things that don't make the history books: the myths left off the syllabus, the urban legends whispered at 2am, the gods who got edited out of the story. The hidden, the haunted, the forgotten. If it goes bump in the night, I'm probably already painting it.

Chapter I

The Origin

Canvas Rejects didn't start as a business plan. It started as a compulsion. I'd always painted — experimenting with techniques that felt more like alchemy than art, including working with bleach as a medium, watching imagery emerge from darkness like something being excavated rather than created. Each piece felt like uncovering something that already existed, waiting to be found.

01

The First Shirt

Thor — the thunder god — was the beginning. Hand-crafted, poured over, obsessed about. Put up for live auction and sold within weeks. That moment changed everything.

02

The Flood

Custom orders came in faster than I could keep up. Running a 9-to-5 and pouring nights into wearable mythology — something had to give. So I paused. Regrouped. Waited.

03

The Craft

Every technique was earned, not learned. Bleach on black fabric. Layers that build worlds. The process is as obsessive as the subject matter — myths deserve that kind of reverence.

04

The Return

I'm back. Not because the market demanded it — because the art did. Canvas Rejects is fully awake again, and this time there's no ceiling on where it goes.

"I combined my fascination with mythology and the unknown, and put it somewhere people could actually wear it — carry it with them. Art that travels. Stories that don't stay in frames."

What We Make

Canvas Rejects sits at the intersection of wearable art and mythological obsession. Our pieces draw from ancient pantheons and local ghost stories in equal measure — from thunder gods to things that don't have names yet. The medium is fabric, but the language is older than that. Each design is hand-developed, technique-driven, and built to make people stop and ask: what is that?

We're not printing on shirts. We're embedding stories into them. There's a difference — and if you've ever held one of these pieces, you already know it.

The Mission

To take every strange fascination, every half-remembered legend, every creature that lives in the corner of your eye — and make it visible. Wearable. Yours. Canvas Rejects exists to put that obsession in your hands, on your back, and hopefully into your life.

This brand is for the people who were always drawn to the obscure corner of the library. The ones who googled that urban legend at midnight. The ones who felt more at home in mythology than in the news. Canvas Rejects is yours too — always discovering something, always digging deeper, never satisfied with the official version of the story.
