He didn't ask for this life. But here he is.
Part 1 of the Off Duty Okami series. No grand entrance. No divine purpose. Just Okami, on the clock, doing what he does now.
Some gods fall from grace with a thunderclap. Okami fell with considerably less fanfare — and somehow ended up here, repping Canvas Rejects and figuring out the rest as he goes.
This is that story. From the beginning.

Off Duty Okami: A God, A Tee Shirt, and a Very Disappointing Tuesday

There's a guy who shows up to every Canvas Rejects pop-up wearing a fox mask and a Canvas Rejects tee.

He doesn't say much. He folds shirts with the kind of precision that feels excessive for someone who's clearly not that invested. He'll stare at a candle for a little too long. Sometimes he sighs — not like he's tired, but like he remembers something. Something big. Something that used to matter.

His name is Okami.

And once upon a time, he was a god.

We're not going to get into the whole story right now. Mostly because it's long, and partially because some of it is embarrassing for everyone involved. But the short version is this: Okami fell. Not metaphorically. Not spiritually. Actually fell — out of whatever divine arrangement he had going, stripped of his power, and dropped unceremoniously into a life that includes alarm clocks, gas prices, and a Canvas Rejects employee discount he uses maybe too much.

He's mortal now. Or close enough to it that the difference stopped mattering.

So he works. He shows up. He wears the tee.

Off Duty Okami is a series of moments from his new life. Some of them are funny. Some of them are strangely sad. Some of them are just a guy in a fox mask trying to figure out what to watch on a Friday night with no particular destiny to fulfill.

He's not brooding about it — not all the time, anyway. He's adjusted. Sort of. He found a routine. He found Canvas Rejects. He found that incense, good lighting, and the right playlist can make even a mundane Tuesday feel like something.

Not godhood. But something.

Follow along. New entries whenever Okami does something worth documenting — which, as it turns out, is more often than you'd expect from a former deity living a very regular life.

He's off duty. But he's still out here.
